Loser By Jerry Spinelli

This story explores the life of Zinkoff through his 6th grade.  Zinkoff does not fit into the accepted roles around him.  He is rather clumsy, not quick academically, and he finds humor in unexpected, unpredictable ways, he is a unique individual. But Zinkoff is a happy, regular kid in many ways.  He wants to have good friends, ride bike, and shares the same hopes and dreams of other children who don’t have as many challenges to conquer as Zinkoff.

Then in what could be a tragedy, Zinkoff shows his true nature and loyal qualities.  His remarkable spirit carries him through events that in the end earn him long-awaited recognition and respect.
