Effective immediately the library will no longer be assessing fines for materials returned late to the library. At the June 22nd Board meeting, members of the library board unanimously voted to eliminate the practice of charging fines for late materials. What does that mean for library users?
- Existing late fines will be waived from library card holders.
- Borrowers will still receive notifications for late items.
- Borrowers will be charged for lost or damaged items.
Eliminating library fines will give equal access to patrons who can now again borrow regardless their ability to pay for late items. Removing this barrier ensures that everyone can discover, learn, and grow.
